FAQ

Here’s a comprehensive list of wedding photography FAQs. If there’s anything you have on your mind that is not listed here, or is not detailed enough, please feel free to get in touch.

Q: Are your wedding packages negotiable? I can’t afford what you charge!

A: We truly understand how expensive it is to get married. There are a million things you need to pay for, and some of them are more challenging than others. However, premium wedding photography also comes at a price – and we can’t even begin to start justifying the effort it takes to deliver quality photos like the ones you see on this website. Either way, please do get in touch with us – we may be more affordable than you think!

Q: Will you be using the final wedding photos in your portfolio and on your social media channels? What if we do not want that?

A: We may! If your wedding results in terrific wedding photos (and we are sure it will!), we would love to share those pictures on our personal portfolio website and social channels as examples of great work we’ve done, so that other couples may also be inspired by your wedding. Should you specifically NOT want us to disclose your wedding photos on our personal channels, let us know beforehand . There is no official policy on how to approach these situations, and there may be a middle ground we can work out.

Q: What camera do you use for wedding photography? Or, what equipment do you use?

A: In short, we use whatever it takes to get you stunning photos. We have a long list of equipment we shoot weddings with, and this includes full-frame cameras, fast lenses, all forms of off-camera lighting, remote lighting equipment, props, stands, tripods, monopods…all of which is updated and changed constantly. In case you’re interested in having a conversation on equipment, or debating the pros and cons between Nikon, Canon, or Sony feel free to leave a comment at the end of this page!

Q: Do you also provide wedding albums?

A: Yes! Wedding albums – or weddings books, are a critical part of the final piece of work. We have spent a lot of time evaluating album vendors in India and abroad, and am pleased to let you know that based on our experience, we’ve shortlisted the vendors we work with to a very small list. Albums are serious business, and available to you are the very best albums that are made in India – and for the discerning bride, albums that are hand-made and imported from Bangalore. All albums are custom designed for your wedding and are clean, contemporary and classy.

Q: How are the photos and/or film delivered to us?

A: We have a completely cloud-based delivery system. Your wedding photos, trailer, and film will be uploaded to a shared drive that can be shared with your family and friends. Final delivery of high-resolution images and video will be sent to you on a pen drive by post.

Q: What if I want some changes to be made to my wedding trailer/film?

A: We usually allow two rounds of changes to the wedding trailer and film. We completely understand that there is always room for changes and edits, and want to ensure that you’re absolutely happy with what you get – after all, it’s your wedding! We urge you to tell us all the changes in one go so that we can incorporate them in the first go – and leave the second round for any minor changes as needed.

Q: Do we get to see the wedding film/trailer before the final delivery?

A: Yes, definitely. Before we deliver you your final wedding film or share it on our social media, we send it to you for a preview, should you want any changes made. Only after your final approval, do we finish the film.

Q: I want images to post on social media a few days after my wedding, can that happen?

A: We understand how excited you are to see your wedding images soon and share it with your friends. As mentioned above, we deliver the entire set of wedding images 2-4 weeks after your wedding dates. However, we usually deliver a small selection of images 8-10 days after your wedding!

Q: Who owns the usage rights to my wedding images? What is a personal rights release, and who owns the copyright?

A: Along with the assignment, you own the full usage rights to your wedding photos for non-commercial use. Legal jargon aside, that means you can do whatever you want with your wedding photos (like making more albums, taking prints, sending them out to relatives, sharing them online and what have you). The only thing you cannot do is reselling your wedding images & don’t share or use images to other photographers – which I am sure you will not want to do! As the photographer, we will own the ‘copyright’ to the photographs, which means we own the author rights to the photograph.

Q: How many team members do you travel with? Can reducing the crew size reduce my cost?

A: We believe in quality and not quantity. Usually, for a mid-sized wedding (100-400 people), we have a crew of 4-8 people including Indrajit. There are a minimum number of people required to deliver the quality of images and video we guarantee, so reducing crew members will only serve to reduce the quality of photos and film that you get. Having said that, every wedding is different and we would require talking with you personally to decide the number of people needed.

Q: How long will it take for you to deliver our wedding photos? How long will the album take?

A: We typically deliver the final set of individually developed images from your wedding between 2-4 weeks after your wedding dates. After selection of images by you, we usually deliver the album will take another 4-8 weeks to reach your doorstep.

Q: Will you provide me with a full dump of all the photos taken from my wedding? I don’t mind if they aren’t processed, I just want to see the full dump of pictures taken during my wedding days.

A: The short answer is, no. Here’s the long answer:
As mentioned above, a large number of pictures taken are straight away rejects – bad expressions, people in the frame, technical problems… and so on. This is an integral part of candid wedding photography – and wouldn’t happen if each shot taken was “posed”. These pictures are useless to everyone, and are a waste of resources to shortlist and deliver to you (on average, a single wedding takes up around 50-70 GB of storage space).
We work really hard at weaving a story into what we do – and the final work is selected based on the vision and concept we were trying to work towards while shooting a part of your wedding.
Trust: We have no reason to sit on good photographs –if there’s a good picture in there, and even if we have to deliver MORE than what we promised, we have absolutely no reason to kill a good picture! 🙂 at the end, you have to trust your photographer to deliver fantastic wedding memories to you.

Q: What are your wedding photography assignment times? How many hours a day will you shoot?

A: Many photographers approach this differently. We do not believe in setting a limit on the number of hours we will be available to you during a wedding. Indian weddings don’t run as per a schedule (though there always is one!) and things do tend to go over-schedule at times. When this happens, it would be outright blackmail for the photographer to threaten to pack up unless paid extra. Rest assured, this won’t happen – and we will be available for you as long as needed. We usually charge by the day – with the assumption being that a regular day runs into 10-12 hours. We do charge extra, however, if your ceremonies are scheduled very late into the night (like 4 am) which is treated as the next day.

Q: My wedding spans three days, of which the first and second day don’t involve full day work. Why are you charging me for three full days?

A: This is a standard question, and it’s a valid one. There are two parts here:
The first is that we will be booking our full day to be available for you, and therefore lose out on other potential assignments we could have shot that day.
The second and more important one is that in our experience during Indian weddings, things average out. Your wedding day may (and most probably will) involve shooting overtime, as Indian weddings aren’t known to get over without a song and a dance! We won’t be charging you for working extra if your wedding needs it, so at the end of the day, things really do average out.
For more on this, see the next question.

Q: Who decides the music of the film? Can I get the music that I want for my wedding film?

A: The decision of the music on the film is a collaborative effort between you and us. We will take into consideration your choice and suggestions of music you want to have in your wedding film. However, our main aim is to create a film with music that will be relevant even decades from now. We strive for timeless memories that do not appear out of place even when you watch it years from your wedding day.

Q: Do you edit the photos? How much editing is involved?

A: Yes, 150-200 images provided to you which you selected images edited to you. Our editing style is a light touch – and mostly involves using a color palette that we love. To get a general idea of our editing style, please go through our portfolio on this website.

Q: How many wedding pictures do you typically provide per wedding? What are your selection criteria?

A: We do not limit the number of images we shoot during a wedding. The kind of work we do results in a number of rejected photos – bad expressions, bad lighting, distractions in the frame and so on. After a painstaking review, we reject around 10-20% of the material right away for one reason or the other. On average, we deliver between 400-600 images from a two-day wedding, and between 500-800 images from a three-day wedding (and so on…). This will be more than sufficient for you to relive your wedding, frame by frame.

Q: I want to make sure my family members and closest friends are not missed in the photos/film. Can that happen?

A: Yes, definitely! We will work very closely with you to identify what we call the “inner circle” of people. Before the wedding, we ask the couple to submit a list of names with photos, which is later distributed to the team. We will make every effort to ensure that these people aren’t missed out.

Q: Can I opt for only photography or videography packages/or hire another photography team?

A: Yes, of course. You can assign us for either one. But we highly recommend that assign us for the entire package. When we cover a wedding, we are shooting your story from a certain perspective that reflects in both our photography and films. Assign two teams can cause a clash of ideas, and both your end products to be different from each other.

Q: Do you shoot both “sides” of a wedding?

A: Yes, we absolutely do! As a matter of fact, we highly recommend to assign us to shoot both the groom’s and the bride’s family. It’s an absolute waste of resources to have two separate teams to essentially the same thing. We have enough resources in-house to be able to cover your entire wedding from start to finish.

Q: Do you offer wedding video or cinematography services? I’d like a wedding video — and I’d like everything to be done under one roof.

A: Absolutely! Wedding cinema has evolved a lot over the last few years. We will develop a beautiful thematic documentary style wedding video which will perfectly complement your wedding album. Typical deliverable include a wedding trailer (5-6 min), and a full 45-60 minute wedding movie — all in brilliant high definition video.

Q: Who will actually shoot my wedding?

A: We take up only one wedding at a time to ensure our full attention on you. Indrajit will always lead the team and be at your wedding. In addition to them, our team of wedding professionals includes seasoned second shooters, cinematographers, and assistants.

Q: Do you shoot alone or do you have a team?

A: We have a full in-house team of photographers and cinematographers who can complement your wedding story with additional posed imagery and wedding movies. We have everything you need under one roof – which gives us the freedom to be able to create a single cohesive story using still and moving images for your wedding!

Q: Do you charge extra for outstation assignments?

A: The short answer is no, we do not! Our core assignment fees will remain the same – and will only cover the number of days we will actually be shooting. As a photographer, we realize that we need to be available to shoot where and when needed and recognize that there will be non-billable days in travel. That’s all right, but out-of-station assignments will have an extra travel and lodging charge associated, which will be at actual.

Q: How many weddings do you typically shoot in a month/year? Do you take multiple assignments at a time?

A: We take up very limited weddings every year, and only shoot one wedding at a time. We like to focus 100% of our attention on one wedding, in order to give you the very best we can. This is very important to us as this is the only way we can keep up the quality standards we are proud to have set, as well as give us enough time to be able to edit and develop your images – the way we meant them to be!

Q: Where are you based? Are you open to travel for my wedding?

A: We are based in Kolkata, India. We have shot weddings all over India, and are happy to travel to your wedding – wherever it may be! Being based in a major metro cities or rural area, we enjoy easy connectivity to all parts of India.

Q: How long have you been shooting weddings and how many weddings have you shot?

A: We first started shooting weddings way back in 2006 during the renaissance in Indian Wedding Photography. Since then, we’ve shot hundreds of love stories – and look forward to being a part of yours!

Q: Which locations have you traveled to for shooting weddings? Have you covered destination weddings?

A: Yes, of course – we’ve shot weddings all over India. We’ve had the privilege of shooting in almost every corner of India.

Q: What’s your wedding photography style?

A: That’s a tough question to answer. Some of the popular “styles” associated with wedding photography are candid, documentary, photo journalistic, art wedding photography and other fancy words like these. What we do is a mixture of all of these styles – and depends on the moment and what we’re aiming to achieve. We typically shadow the couple as closely as possible while being hypersensitive to behind-the-scenes moments and emotions that occur spontaneously. These make the best wedding memories. This is largely photo journalistic to an extent – but we also like making gorgeous looking wedding photos for which we may direct and set the scene to an extent. We believe that a successful wedding assignment needs a mixture of all of this, and a responsible photographer should be adaptable enough to deliver a mix of genres.

A relationship is the most beautiful thing in the world and at every marriage; we celebrate the start of one. We believe in honoring these moments when two hearts are finally bound as one and it’s our lenses that pay the homage best. We are a bunch of wedding photographers, from Freezing Moment… and we strive to the best of our abilities to capture you in the finest of your moods, from the most exotic of all angles, so that your wedding becomes an affair to remember!

Thank you. Regards,
